The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice John T. Tsoho, has issued a notice regarding the reassignment of judges nationwide. This reorganization, which takes effect on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, is necessitated by the promotion of eight judges to the Court of Appeal and other pressing needs.
Dated July 12, 2024, the notice details the new judicial assignments across various divisions, including Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, and Kano. Hon. Justice Tsoho will divide his time between Abuja and Lagos.
The Chief Judge instructed all judges affected by this posting to report to their new stations by the specified date. He emphasized that judges should prioritize concluding cases at their current locations where the defense has rested. Additionally, he affirmed that the court’s standard policies for transferring judges will be strictly followed.
In instances where the reassignment results in a shortage of resident judges in any division, the remaining judge or judges will handle the entire caseload until further notice.
This routine posting of judges aims to enhance the effective administration of justice across the country.
