Residents of Karu, an Abuja neighborhood, are in a state of panic following a violent protest by motorcycle operators.
The motorcycle riders also burned cars and threatened local residents.
The rally, which started at 11 a.m. on Sunday, has caused several churches in the city to close their doors and people to remain indoors.

The source of the motorcycle operators’ unrest is currently unclear.
Religious centres which were opened for Sunday service have asked members to remain indoors to avoid being attacked by the protesters.

Residents of Karu, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, among other towns in the area, are affected by the development.
Motorists navigating through the areas have been asked to keep off the route until normalcy is restored.
