Fani-Kayode Denies Petitioning Sagay Committee on Justice Tsoho
Former minister of aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, on Wednesday, said he had never written any petition against the acting chief judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho.
He also denied directing any legal practitioner to author any petition on his behalf against the acting Chief Judge of FHC.
Fani-Kayode in a statement said the petition which was already being circulated in the media was fake and never emanated from him.
According to him, he did not authorise the alleged writer of the petition to write anything against Tsoho before the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption or any other committee or agency.
He explained that Mr. Lanre Amu, the lawyer that was alleged to have written the petition was not known to him as he had never met him.
The former minister noted that the allegations in the fake petition were absurd, damaging and defamatory and could not have originated from him.
He said, “it has been brought to my attention that a fake report and a false story concocted by agents of destruction is in circulation.
“The fake story purportedly reflects the contents of a fake petition which was supposedly written by a lawyer (who I have never met or spoken to by the name of Lanre Amu) on my behalf against Justice John Tsoho, the Acting Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.
“The petition, the story and the report are false in their entirety and I hereby denounce them and those that concocted them in the strongest terms.
“They did not originate from me and I did not mandate anyone to write such an absurd, damaging and defamatory story and neither did I write any petition against Justice John Tsoho.
“The attachments that were attached to the story were also fake and were generated and orchestrated by the agents of falsehood.”
Fani-Kayode warned against publicising such story, saying such would have contravened the Laws of Defamation and would have violated the provisions of the Cyber Crime Law.
He also threatened to exercise his “lawful and legitimate rights” in a court of law in order to protect his name and reputation.
He, however, said he had directed his lawyer, Mr. Ahmed Raji SAN, to write to Professor Itse Sagay, and his committee to inform them that no such petition emanated from him or any of his agents.
