#EndSARS: NO FACEMASK, NO ENTRY – CROSS RIVER JUDICIAL PANEL ON POLICE BRUTALITY WARN COUNSELS, OBSERVERS
Today, the cross river state judicial panel on police brutality continues it’s proceedings at exactly 11:53am, on announcement of appearance by counsel’s to the petitioners and respondents.
The leading counsel to the police legal team Dennis Esq. raises an observation to the panel over the high rate of covid-19 pandemic in the state and the inability to keep to the NCDC regulation’s in the panel.
He however highlights the risk of coming to the panel not well protected and the absence of safety measure’s not in place to help protect members of the bar and bench.
Dennis disclosed to the panel the ineffectiveness of proceeding with today’s activities in permitting observers, Nigerians to view panel proceedings without safety measures which could endanger the health of everyone in the proceeding.
The chairman of Nigeria Bar association calabar branch, Dr. Paul Ebiala Esq. however raised a fundamental observation as well about the concerns of healthcare measure been presence and needful in such a panel like this where they are more than 50 persons.
He however promise the panel that the N.B.A Calabar Branch will definitely make provisions for sanitizers and others safety equipment’s so as to assist in limiting the spread of the covid-19 pandemic in calabar.
The erudite Judge, Justice Edem however admitted observations of counsel’s and ruled on a mandatory healthcare measures put in place before entrance of the panel.
