The commercial motorcycle rider who was swept away by flood in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area, on Tuesday, has been confirmed dead.
According to reports, the lifeless body of the deceased, identified as Mr Frank Omoruyi, was discovered by fellow commercial motorcycle riders.
The deceased, said to be in his early 50s, hailed from Ehor in Uhunmwode Local Government Area and resided at Afuda Quarters by Aloma Junction in Igueben Local Government Area of the state.
His corpse, was recovered from a burrow pit by some Kogi indigenes who are also commercial motorcycle riders, at about 5 pm.
A viral video showed residents conveying the corpse into a waiting vehicle.
One of the motorcycle riders who recovered the lifeless body of the deceased said they saw him inside the burrow pit, tied a rope to his leg, and dragged him out.
It will be recalled that it had earlier been reported that the deceased was swept away by flood following a torrential rainfall that occurred on Monday night and lasted until Tuesday morning.
He was said to have been carrying a female passenger when the incident happened at Uwenlenbo Road, near Zekor Hotel in Ekpoma.
The deceased was also reported to have struggled with his motorcycle in the flood before the tragic incident.
It was further gathered that some passers-by tried to assist the victim while he was still struggling with the force of the floodwater before he was finally swept away.
