Yesterday, 6th June, 2022 was yet another sad day for the citizens of Nigeria, wherein gunmen attacked St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, killing multiple people and leaving others injured. The terrorists were reported to have used explosives in blowing up certain sections of the church.
Ede Asenoguan, while condoling with the families of the victims of the attack, condemned the act and called on government to carry out its primary assignment of protecting lives and property.
Read below his comments.
“We are here again! The question now is: “who is next and where is next?” We are on the verge of total security collapse and no one seems to know what to do. Government and its agencies are clueless. These bloodthirsty elements are having a filled day. Families are being wiped out in the twinkle of an eye, others thrown into heartwrenching mourning.
Yesterday in St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, while worshippers were in church to serve their God, emboldened terrorists attacked and hacked them to death in cold blood.
It is my prayer that the souls of the dead find peace in God’s bossom. My heart goes out to the families of the deceased and the injured. Only God can heal your wounds. I equally wish the injured quick and full recovery.
Government must move from issuing condemnations to taking actual steps in preventing such occurrences and bringing perpetrators to book. They must live up to their primary duty of protection of lives and property.
May God heal Nigeria”
