Oshiomhole, who is also a former National Chairman of the ruling APC, is seen in a video that made the rounds on Sunday afternoon entering the Bell 412EP Serial 36531 Register 5N-LEH used by Nigerian police.
According to the caption on the video, the former Edo governor was on his way to Benin City from his hometown, Iyahmo.
Many citizens have taken to social media platforms to voice their concerns, accusing the police of partiality in Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Many Nigerians have expressed disappointment over the alleged use of the Nigeria Police Force helicopter by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole.
Oshiomhole is a former governor of Edo State
@OlorogunErnest added, “That’s a police helicopter being used for politics, and it’s just so normal to you all. How did Nigeria get here? #EdoDecides2024.”
One X user, @Udoh_D, remarked, “So he’s freely using a police helicopter in Benin to move around, while Governor Obaseki, the Chief Security Officer of Edo State, was chased out of the INEC office… Make it make sense. I blame the opposition because they’re weak. I know that lousy Wike wouldn’t have tolerated this when he was Governor of Rivers State.”
@SeniorKelz said, “Police helicopter is being used by oshiomhole. Nigeria is a crime scene. If them explain Nigeria to you and you understand it means u don’t understand
@hon_ags wrote, “Obaseki the governor and chief security officer of Edo state was sent out of the collation room by the police, but Senator Oshiomole of the APC is moving around inside police helicopter, oya now, free and fair election my foot.”
@ogundamisi asked, “@PoliceNG helicopter is now Adams Oshiomhole’s personal Uber?
@israeliswrite added, “Shameless, he could not move APC Federal to fix benin-auchi roads..now he has to fly a helipcopter for such a short trip…I used to say it that once these evil politicians start using helicopters, Nigerian roads are finished..”
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday night declared Monday Okpebholo, candidate of the APC as winner of the Edo state governorship election.
Farouk Adamu, INEC returning officer, announced the results in Benin City, the Edo state capital, on Sunday.
Okpebholo won the election with 291,667 votes to defeat his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 247,274 votes.
