May I seize this opportunity to congratulate the newly elected officers of the Nigerian Bar Association Benin Branch led by Mr Nosa Edo Osagie who was elected as Chairman.
Your emergence as officers after a keenly contested election, is a testament of the confidence that our members have reposed on you individually to discharge the functions of the respective offices to which you have been elected. I urge you all individually and collectively nor to betray that confidence. The best way to do that is to perform and deliver on your campaign promises. This is particularly against the background that there is so much expectation by members.
For those who were not elected into office, I also congratulate you for your efforts. You are all winners as the winning is in your offering yourself to serve. Unquantifiable lessons have been learnt and your efforts did not go unnoticed. It shall bear appropriate fruits at the appointed time.
I congratulate the electoral committee for a doing a satisfactory job which I believe met the expectations of both the candidates and electorates.
I urge you all to understand that elections are over and that you have been elected as officers of the entire Bar and not a section or group. You must do all that you can to promote and ensure the unity of the Bar.
I wish you a very successful tenure even as you prepare to take over the mantle of leadership. Benin branch has carved a niche within the comity of Branches, you have a duty to sustain and improve on this track records.
