A man has been arrested in Enugu on charges of killing his son.Police said Chief Ikechukwu Nwobodo, 60, a community leader in Ogbozinne-Ndiagu Akpugo community in Nkanu West council, killed his 32-year-old son, Chika, for allegedly threatening him.

Sources said Nwobodo called the village leader, saying Chika was threatening to kill him.Security officials of the community, who were also informed of the development, went to Nwobodo’s residence about 2am.

On getting to the gate the deceased allegedly shouted that nobody should enter the compound.“After a while, Chief Nwobodo opened the gate and asked the men to tie up Chika and leave him till dawn.

“But while the security men were tying him up, the father allegedly hit him with an axe, a source said. In the morning Chief Nwobodo told the community that his son had died and that they should come and bury him.”

He was further said to have threatened that if they failed to come, he would pay labourers to bury him and even bring the police to supervise the burial.Nwobodo eventually went to police but while there, the residents stormed the station to report the incident.Nwobodo was immediately detained, it was said.Police spokesman Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the incident, saying the incident happened on Monday.In Adamawa, a man was grilled by detectives over the disappearance and death of his daughter.The man, a resident of Mayo-Belwa in the southern part of Adamawa, told police that he gave the daughter something to take home but she was not seen afterwards.The 16-year-old’s body has been found.
