• Bego heads new ministry

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has carried out a minor reshuffle in the State Executive Council.In a press statement released by Shaibu Abdullahi, the Press Secretary to the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali announced that a new Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation has been created, while the Ministry of Land and Survey has been subsumed to the Yobe Geographic Information System (YOGIS).In the new arrangement, Abdullahi Bego has been deployed to the new Ministry of Wealth Creation from the Ministry of Information while Alhaji Mohammed Lamin is to take over the Ministry of Information from the defunct Ministry of Land and Survey.

The statement reads: “Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the creation of Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation.

Consequently, he has approved the following minor exco reshuffle with immediate effect.Abdullahi Bego from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture has been redeployed to the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation.

Mohammed Lamin is redeployed from the Ministry of Land and Solid Minerals to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture.

“Furthermore, the governor has approved that the responsibility for administration and management of land matters in the state, including all issues relating to land allocation, title registration, use, searches, charting cadastral and planning and such other responsibilities as may be determined by the Governor has been transferred to the Yobe Geographic Information System (YOGIS).

“The function of the Ministry of Land has, therefore, been subsumed into YOGIS. With this development, the Ministry of Land and Solid Minerals ceases to exist in Yobe State,” the statement reads.
