His Excellency, Mohammadu Buhari, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria on the 13th day of January 2022 embarked
on a One Day State Visit to Ogun State to inaugurated some projects executed by Governor Dapo Abiodun (MFR) which he described as trail-blazing .

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State , the governors of Ekiti, Ondo , Osun, Oyo and Lagos States , former Governor Gbenga Daniel, among others dignitaries
and the good people of Ogun State with fan fare welcomed President Buhari .

While commissioning the projects his excellency described Abiodun as the “performing Governor of Nigeria’s Gateway State and a worthy example of ‘promises made, promises kept.”

Hear him “You (Prince Abiodun) have justified the mandate of the people of Ogun State. You have represented our Party very well.”
“Your Excellency, well done! I am proud of what you have done for your state and your people. You have made our great party, the APC, proud too.

With a twinge of envy I decided to find out the projects that earned the governor all those encomium from our President . To my disappointment , I found out that the projects are the 42-kilometre Sagamu Interchange-Abeokuta Road, the 14-kilometre Ijebu-Ode-Mojoda-Epe Expressway and the Gateway City Monument , two housing projects. 527 units of a low and medium Housing Scheme at Kobape and the high-brow, 83 duplexes at the Kings Court Estate at Oke Mosan in Abeokuta, the state capital .

With my discovery, I felt sad that in this twenty first century where other countries are celebrating break through in economics ,science and technology my country is busy celebrating the reconstruction and rehabilitation of express roads, the beautification of parks and the building of substandard , insufficient and unaffordable accommodation for her citizens

In view of the above , I ask myself is this why public funds and official time of our public officers wasted ? Is this why major roads were blocked from 6am to 4pm and thereby restricting the movement of Nigerian citizens ? Is this why the good people of Ogun State were called out to waste their time ? Is this why the entire Nigerian police , Federal Road Safety Corps, traffic warden ,Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps , Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps and the Department of State Service in Ogun State were called up for ? Is this why our president who can hardly work for six hours a day because of his age and poor state of health took out eight hours for ? Is this why our commander in chief of the Armed Forces refused to visit Zamfara State where over 200 defenceless Nigerians were senselessly slaughtered by terrorist barely a week before ?

If the answers to the above questions are in the affirmative then it show that our president is an idle president and that the people of Ogun State are ignorant people for failing to realise that their governor is not doing them a favour by providing them with basic public facilities and social amenities with public funds . Our president must get his priorities right and stop.wasting time on inconsequential things .
