Two persons, John Agbeke and Akpa Terdoo, were on Friday docked before a Makurdi Upper Area Court II for alleged criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and culpable homicide.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Veronica Shaagee, told the court that Suleiman Yunusa of Gidan Kalo, Katungu, North Bank, Makurdi, reported the case at the ‘C’ Division Police Station on November 2. He came with a bloodied body.
The court heard that the informant conveyed a passenger from the North Bank to Atsor village within Makurdi town.
On reaching Astor village, the passenger conspired with two others, stabbed him on his stomach three times and made away with his Honda ACE 110 motorcycle, valued at N400,000.
The prosecutor said that the informant later died at the Divine Love Hospital, High-Level, Makurdi.
She said that the defendants, Messrs Agbeke and Terdoo, were arrested and confessed to committing the crimes during investigation.
The prosecutor told the court that the knife the defendants used in attacking their victims was recovered from Mr Agbeke.
Ms Shaagee said that the defendant also mentioned Dyondun Kpe, Alhaji, whose surname is unknown, Terhumba Boniface; and Terdoo Shaorga as co-conspirators.
According to her, the accomplices are at large.
She said the offences contravened Sections 6(b), 1, 2 (a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provision Act 2004 and Section 222 of the Penal Code Law of Benue, 2004.
Ms Shaagee said that investigation into the matter was ongoing and requested for time to complete it.
However, when the case came up for mention, no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction.
Magistrate Vershima Hwande remanded the defendants at the Federal Maximum Correctional Centre Makurdi, and adjourned the case until December 20 for further mention.
