Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi has approved the payment of N30,000 minimum wage to workers in the state.
This is contained in a statement by Muhammad Umar, permanent secretary of the Establishment and Service Matters Bureau, Office of the Head of Service (HoS), on Wednesday in Bauchi.
According to him, the implementation of the consequential adjustment on minimum wage is for officers on grade level 07 and above in both the state and local government levels, with effect from December 1, 2022.
He said the governor had also approved the implementation of the financial benefit for staff promotion in both the state and local government services from December 1, 2022.
Mr Umar stated that the government was working towards domesticating the harmonised retirement age for teachers in basic and post-basic schools in the State.
“At the inception of the present administration on May 2019, a number of measures had been introduced with a view to generating and maintaining an authenticated clean nominal and payroll for the state and local government services.
“The purpose is to block all leakages in salary administration and free resources to pave the way for the employment of more youths and perform other development projects in the state,” he said.
The permanent secretary reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of civil servants to cushion the effects of the present economic hardship.
He urged the civil servants to reciprocate the gesture by rededicating themselves for effective service delivery.
