Court orders INEC to Recognize Uba as PDP candidate for Anambra election

Justice Obiora Nwabunike of the Anambra State High Court, Awka, has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise Senator Ugochukwu Uba as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for the November 6 governorship election in the state. The judge gave the order while ruling on an application filed by Uba, challenging the party’s governorship primaries in the state.

Alleged N3bn Loan Diversion: Court Orders Arrest of Whistleblower

A High Court in Bayelsa, on Monday, issued a bench warrant authorising the arrest of a former General Manager of Radio Bayelsa, John Idumange, who raised an alarm over alleged diversion of N3 billion Agric loan by government officials. Justice Iniekenimi Uzakah issued the warrant, following an oral application by State Prosecuting Counsel E.S. Obed who noted that Idumange has been absent from court to defend the charge against him.

Nigeria’s Attorney General, Malami Approves Posting Of Solicitor-General/PS, Director Of Public Prosecution

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has approved the posting of Umar Mohammed, the current Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation as the new Solicitor-General of the Federation/Permanent Secretary. He also approved the posting of Babadoko Mohammed, SA Prosecution/ HAGF's office to take over as the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation.

Court Grants 49 Yoruba Nation Agitators Bail

A Lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Yaba on Monday granted bail to the 49 Yoruba Nation agitators arrested and detained by the Lagos Police Command. Some of the suspects, according to Commissioner of Police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu, were intercepted and found with guns, axes, Oodua flags, Yoruba Armed Forces vests and other items. Others were arrested at the protest ground in Ojota.

Court Declines to Suspend July 24 Lagos Council Poll

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos yesterday declined to make an order of status quo ante that would have suspended the local government elections in Lagos scheduled for Saturday, July 24, 2021. Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, rather, adjourned till November 29, proceedings in the suit filed by an All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship aspirant Raheem Rasaki Alani.

Court Stops Planned Impeachment Of Zamfara Deputy Governor

A Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained Zamfara Speaker and two others from proceedings with its planned impeachment of Deputy Governor, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau. Justice Obiora Egwuatu gave the restraining order on Monday after listening to Ogwu James Onoja (SAN), who moved a motion ex-parte to that effect, on behalf of the plaintiff in a suit filed in the name of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
