24-year-old Sentenced to Death for Stealing Phones, Cash in Ekiti

An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, on Tuesday, sentenced a 24-year-old man, Sola Jegede, to death by hanging for dispossessing some men of their phones and money. He was found guilty of using weapons, including a gun, knife, digger and club to rob Ibukun Ilesanmi, Seun Ilesanmi and Tope Ilesanmi of their phones and undisclosed sums of money.

Lagos lawyer kechukwu Uwanna Partner has emerged Chairman-elect of the Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association. Uwanna, a Partner at the firm of Tsedaqah and a past Secretary of the branch, polled 590 votes (71%) to beat his nearest opponent, Anthony Atata who polled 186 votes (22.6%), while Seth Amaefule came third with 46 votes (5.6%).

FG: Only 61 of 774 LGs in Nigeria Free from Open Defecation

The Minister of Water Resources, Mr. Suleiman Adamu, has revealed that 61 out of the 774 local governments in Nigeria have been certified Open Defecation Free (ODF). Adamu also revealed that an estimated population of 46 million out of 200 Nigerian citizens continued to find pleasure in open defecation that is hazardous to the wellbeing of the citizens.
