ARMY RETAKES BASE
The Nigerian army regained control of its military base in Marte, in northeastern Nigeria of the country on Sunday morning after “intense fighting” with the jihadists of the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWAP), also known as Boko Haram, which had control of the base on Saturday, before “troops of operation Tura Taka Bango, in coordination with the air force, according to an official statement. Military sources also admitted that the Nigerian army also “suffered human and equipment losses. The conflict between Nigeria’s armed forces and Boko Haram has taken the lives of 35,000 people and displaced about two million people from their homes since 2009.
