President of the African Bar Association (AFBA), Hannibal Uwaifor and the President of the International Criminal Court Bar Association (ICCBA), Karim A. A. Khan QC signing the agreement.

With this agreement, AFBA will be referred to as an affiliate of the ICCBA.

The collaboration will allow ICCBA Executive Council to rely on AFBA to manage counsels who are members of national bars in Africa.

With this agreement therefore, whenever possible or otherwise considered appropriate, the AFBA and the ICCBA will invite each other’s representatives to their major events, seminars, trainings and general assembly meetings in order to maintain and enhance the mutual bonds between the parties.

Unless agreed otherwise, the inviting party will not bear the costs for the attendance, travel and accommodation of the other party’s representatives.

Mr. Khan advise all relevant professionals to join ICCBA and become affiliate members, associate members, or register as a counsel on the list of ICC and be a full member of the ICCBA.

The present agreement remains into force until AFBA expressly withdraws its affiliation by letter to the ICCBA President or Secretary, or until an absolute majority of the ICCBA Executive Council decides to withdraw the status of affiliated association from the AFBA, pursuant to section 4(4) of the Procedure.

AFBA and ICCBA agreed to disseminate information relating to this Agreement in any way it deems appropriate in order to achieve the purpose of the present agreement.
