I join the Branch Chairmen, the Branch Officers, the great Bar Leaders and the entire members of NBA Maiduguri and Biu Branches to rejoice on this auspicious occasion of the 2022 Law Week and Annual Bar Dinner. Having arrived Maiduguri in the course of the Law Week Plenary Sessions, I am competent to give an eye witness account that the Law Week is a huge success.
That the Theme of the Law Week centers on Technology as a Tool For Access to Justice is a confirmation of the readiness of the legal community across the country, to exploit technology in the administration of justice in Nigeria. We must therefore be ready to walk the talk by ensuring that we sustain the advocacy for adequate funding of the judiciary through a practical adoption of financial autonomy policy for the judiciary. This to my mind is the only way the judiciary can be well positioned to invest adequately in the procurement of necessary technological infrastructure and manpower towards the realisation of our IT revolution aspirations.
The Annual Bar Dinner/Awards which draws the curtain on the Law Week comes up tonight and I look forward to a colourful and grandeur dinner.
I congratulate the Chairmen of Maiduguri and Biu Branches of NBA, the Chief Judge of the High Court, the Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, all Judges and Magistrates of the Borno State Judiciary, the Attorney General of the State, the bar leaders and all members of the Bar in Borno State, on the success of the 2022 Law Week, even as I look forward to a lavish Bar Dinner tonight.
