Residents doctors in Osun on Saturday joined the indefinite strike action called by its national body, Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors as they stopped attending to patients at the state teaching hospital, UTH Osogbo.
President of the Association of Resident Doctors, Osun, Dr Phillip Ajibade, told the News Agency of Nigeria, that the strike was in compliance with the directive of the national president of NARD.
“The NARD president was clear. He has directed all Nardits (members) in Nigeria to go on total, indefinite, comprehensive strike.
“ARD UTH Osogbo is an affiliate of NARD and we have complied.
“What NARD is demanding from the Federal Government and fighting for, equally affects us too as doctors,” he said.
National President of NARD, Dr Mohammad Suleiman, on Saturday issued a statement that residents doctors in Nigeria embarked on the indefinite strike after the 30-day ultimatum given to the Federal Government expired. https://punchng.com/resident-doctors-begin-indefinite-strike-friday/
Suleiman stated that the strike became unavoidable after several unfulfilled promises and unsuccessful meetings with government representatives for improve conditions of services for resident doctors among other demands.
