The countdown to the 2022 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has now entered its homestretch. As the clock ticks towards the opening ceremonies of what promises to be one of the most momentous Bar Conferences in recent times, the Association has released a robust social/networking schedule designed to spice up the experience for conferees and guests.
The event, slated to hold between Friday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the Eko Hotel and Suites, and the Eko Atlantic City (both in Lagos) will be preceded by a Muslim Jumaat prayer on Friday, the opening day, at the Lagos Island Central Mosque between 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm WAT. This will be complemented on Sunday, August 21 with an inter-denominational church service at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a Catholic cathedral, also on Lagos Island at 11.00 am WAT.
Sandwiched between these two religious engagements is a Health Walk on Saturday morning, August 20, at 8 o’clock WAT.
The evening of Sunday, the 21st, will also witness the official opening of the Conference Friendship Centre (expected to serve as the networking and marketing hub during the event) at the Marquee Hall of the Eko Atlantic City at 6 o’clock.
On the evening of Tuesday, August 23, conferees will be afforded a welcome respite from the intellectual heavy lifting expected to dominate Monday and Tuesday (August 22 and 23 respectively) with a period of fine dining, wining, great music and conversation at the President’s Dinner, slated for the Convention Centre of the Eko Hotel and Suites at 6.00 pm WAT.
The next day, Wednesday, August 24, which is the final day of the 2022 NBA-AGC, the conferees will be treated to a double-barrelled celebration. First up will be the Chief Judge’s Cocktail (to be hosted by the Chief Judge of Lagos State) at 6.00 pm. But by far the grand climax of the day will be a blowout Closing Party (tagged UnBARed 5.0) at 9.00pm WAT at the Eko Atlantic City.
From all indications, the 2022 Annual General Conference of the NBA promises to live up to its theme, BOLD TRANSITIONS, as Association prepares to enter a new era under the leadership of its incoming Executive Council led by President-elect Yakubu C. Maikyau, SAN.
