Through the SCAD programme, SimmonsCooper Partners has, over the years, sparked the interest and thought process of participants in the legal, commercial and public interest issues that affect the Nigerian society at present, as reflected in this year’s programme content, which addresses emerging areas of business in fin-tech and its intersection with data privacy.
The more traditional, but no less important, areas of intellectual property and arbitration are not left out, however.
The Programme also incorporates a contest in which participants who emerge from the preliminary rounds into the Finals are sure to grasp the rigour of scholarship and creative – attributes which are so essential for today’s lawyer as he/she grapples with fast-paced technological advancement, an evolving economic paradigm and the constant societal demand for change amid an entrenched legal framework.
The SCAD Programme and its competitive component will test participants’ grasp of substantive issues of law across different areas. Even more weighty are participants’ application of critical thinking, creativity, case-related theoretical thinking, logical writing and presentation as well as oral advocacy. Outstanding students will be awarded prizes and provided with internship opportunities at SimmonsCooper Partners
This knowledge-imparting Programme is open to members of the Nigerian Bar Association, students of law and other disciplines, members of the Nigerian business community and the general public.
