President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday played host to the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting preceded a meeting with the security chiefs at the Presidential Villa Abuja, where Tinubu mandated them to raise a blueprint to guide the security sector.
But sources within the presidency claim the visit might not be unconnected with the political intrigues for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.
There are strong indications that the inauguration of the members of the 10th National Assembly is scheduled for June 5 and the eventual election of a new Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
There are about six senators gunning for the seat of the President of the 10th Senate, it was confirmed.
The contestants are drawn from four of the nation’s six geo-political zones: the North-west, South-east, South-south and North-central.
