White Party Ends 2019 Lagos Law Week
The 2019 edition of the Annual Law Week of the Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association ended with a bang as lawyers from across the branch, as well as other stakeholders and guests, thronged the majestic City Hall edifice on Lagos Island for the closing gig.
Tagged ‘The White Party’, due to its specified dress-code, the event was a fitting counterpoint to the intellectual fireworks that had been on display for the preceding two days of the Law Week conference, and to the week-long activities before then. True to the theme of the event, the venue shimmered with white outfits of all kinds as the delegates wined, dined and danced to the beat of both contemporary Nigerian pop and dance-hall music, as well as international disco and RnB favorites of yesteryears.
NEWSWIRE Law and Events Magazine correspondent in Lagos reports that one of the highlights of The White Party were three dance competitions – between young male lawyers, between young female lawyers, and between senior lawyers – with a number of mouth-watering prizes at stake. It was a raucous but light-hearted affair as different factions of supporters cheered on their favorites while neutrals looked on in amusement.
The occasion also saw performances by comedians and pop music acts – including Peruzzi, the fast-rising star notable for a number of hits currently trending on the airwaves and online.
There was a nostalgic feel to the festive air of the party as it marked the last such event in the momentous tenure of the outgoing executive of the Lagos Bar Branch under the dynamic leadership of Chukwuka Ikwuazom, whose innovative stewardship has gone a long way to position the Branch as truly Nigeria’s Premier Bar branch.
