SBL Development Academy: Growing Business Law Firms of the Future
The Training Committee of the NBA Section on Business Law in conjunction with Lareine Gold Consulting, organized a two-day business development training session, titled “Business Development begins with you” and “Better Business Development”.
This training which was targeted at Partners and Associates of Nigeria’s leading firms, was a focused based training.
On Thursday, 10th May, 2018 which was the first training day at the Lagos Court of Arbitration, participants were very ready for the day’s programme ‘Business Development begins with you’ – This course provides an introductory overview for upcoming lawyers interested in learning how to maximise their business development skills in particular for those wanting to understand the role they can play individually in championing best practice business development within a growing law firm.
During the interactive session facilitators, helped lawyers to understand and enhance the power of their personal brand by introducing them to the “Lareine Gold Consulting Business Development Toolkit (LGC BD Toolkit)” by exploring the various concepts and approaches to business development used in leading international law firms.
At the end of the first day’s proceedings, attendees gained a clearer understanding of how to develop and leverage their own unique style of Business Development.
The programme continued the next day, Friday, 11th May, 2018 with training titled ‘Better Business Development’. The facilitator, Cynthia Lareine, with almost 20 years working experience as both a legal practitioner and business development professional, shared her internationally established reputation as a dedicated professional who is proactive, pragmatic and passionate about business development particularly client development.
She took participants through strategies of Better Business Development and also how to approach revenue objectives through marketing and business skills.
As an experienced business developer and relationship manager, Lareine extensively enlightened attendees on how their law firms can be committed to accessing and leveraging their business development techniques which is capable of putting them on the same pedestal with international law firms and at the same time win them big briefs and help them to retaining profitable client relationships.
Lareine has deep insight into practical knowledge regarding how the leading law firms operate and more importantly how they develop and grow legal business and sustain profitable client relationships.
The training sessions were very well received by attendees who engaged the trainer in indepth conversations on how these business development guides can be applied considering the peculiarities of Nigerian practice.
Attendees described the training sessions as highly beneficial, and expressed the hope that there would be more training programme of this kind in the future.
