Rotimi Ogunyemi Makes List of Speakers at IBA African Regional Forum in Rome
The International Bar Association Annual Conference in Rome, Italy continues today Wednesday with several sessions of the over 200 sessions in the 2018 programme. Thursday 11th October promises to be exceptional as it is the IBA Annual Conference Artificial Intelligence Day.
A must-attend session is the panel on Legal Technology co-presented by the IBA African Regional Forum and the North American Regional Forum, discussing the topic: From M-Pesa to Legal Tech – Is Africa’s legal services sector ready to follow the lead of the financial sector to grow and innovate?
The rise of technology to automate day-to-day processes in law firms is no longer a new story in the United Kingdom and United States, and the clamour from clients to reduce fees has accelerated this. Africans have taken to mobile technology for financial services with alacrity, but will they do the same for legal technology and the benefits it can bring to firms and clients? What opportunities are there, and challenges faced for training lawyers, especially as many start their careers on the tasks that are now so easily automated?
This session is chaired by Nankunda Katangaza (London), and enriched with co-distinguished speakers and panellists: Kuda Hove (Zimbabwe), Rotimi Ogunyemi (Nigeria), Willie Pienaar (South Africa), and Alice Namuli Blazevic (Uganda)
Date: Thursday 11 October 2018, Session Room C, Level -1, Roma Convention Center La Nuvola, Rome, Italy
