Osun APC Candidate Accuses PDP Contender of Assassination Plot

The All Progressives Congress candidate for the Obokun State Constituency of Osun State, Mr Bosun Oyintiloye, on Friday accused the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adewumi Adeyemi, of invading his campaign office with political thugs, who attacked his supporters.

Narrating how the attack took place, Oyintiloye said armed thugs around 10.00pm on Thursday attacked his office in Ibokun while he was still within the premises, shooting sporadically.

The lawmaker, who is seeking re-election, said, “I was busy in my office strategising with my mobilisers while many others were in the football viewing section of my constituency office enjoying the Europa football matches around 9.27pm.

“I had stepped out of the office with the intention of retiring home when the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for the constituency, Adewumi Adeyemi, stormed the area with armed thugs.

“The armed hoodlums started shooting sporadically into my direction without any provocation. While I managed to escape the bullets, some of my supporters were unlucky and they were severely injured.

“I have reported the case to the police and waiting for them to take necessary action and I learnt that the PDP House of Assembly candidate, Adewumi Irekandu, and two others, who led the attack were arrested by the police while many others are at large,” Oyintiloye said.

But a leader of the PDP in Ibokun town, Grace Omotosho, dismissed the claims by Oyinloye, saying members of the PDP who were returning from a campaign engagement at Ikinyinwa were attacked by Oyintiloye’s supporters.

Omotosho added that when the PDP campaign train was attacked, a member of the party called Wale was arrested and stripped half naked by Oyintiloye’s supporters and beaten, while another one was hit with a stone in the head.
