NBA Condemns Gunmen Attacks and Killings in Uwheru, Delta State and Batsari Local Council, Katsina State
The nation’s fragile security suffered another huge set back with the news of the dastardly attack on residents of the peaceful community of Uvwheru in Delta State by gunmen alleged to be Fulani herdsmen where more than 8 persons were reportedly killed and their bodies secretly buried.
Same carnage also occurred in Tsauya and Dankar villages in the Batsari Local Council of Katsina State, where 30 persons were reported killed by gunmen.
The increasing spate of attacks, murders, abduction and general insecurity calls for concern and urgent intervention by the Federal Government, being the only authority that controls the armed forces. The NBA calls on the federal government to stop paying lip service to the increasing insecurity in Nigeria and take more proactive actions to put a stop to it.
Nigerians deserve to live and freely move to anywhere within the country in peace and without fear of being attacked. It is the fundamental responsibility of government to provide protection for all Nigerians and their properties. This is why governments exist.
The NBA urges the Federal government to do all that is necessary to quickly de-escalate the rising insecurity in Nigeria; the consequences of a failed security in Nigeria would be calamitous; and must be avoided.
