On EBF We Stand – Long Williams
I have waited with bathed breath for the Secretary of Port Harcourt Branch of the NBA, Mrs. Cordelia Eke to refute the publication purportedly made by her alleging that NBA PH Branch did not accede to the adoption process conducted in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
“Having waited for 24 hours since after the publication, it has become imperative for me to make this publication in order to put the issue in proper perspective so that members of the Bar will not be misled, misinformed and hoodwinked.”
“I am a member of NBA Port Harcourt Branch. I was a former Financial Secretary and later Secretary of the Branch. I have served the EBF as its Secretary and I am presently the Chairman of EBF ICT Committee.”
“I am a member of the EBF Screening Committee and participated the screening and adoption exercise that took place at Hotel Presidential and at NBA HOUSE, Port Harcourt.”
“The Chairman of NBA Port Harcourt Branch, Omubo Victor Frank-Briggs is a member of the EBF Screening Committee. He participated in the Screening exercise at Hotel Presidential.”
“Mr. Frank-Briggs gave the welcome address on behalf of the Branch at the General Meeting of the EBF held on Saturday 3/2/18.”
“In the course of the meeting, he actively participated in the proceedings leading to the adoption of the aspirants.”
“The Chairman as the representative of the NBA PH Branch of which the branch is a member of EBF has acted accordingly in line with the Branch membership status.”
“I am consoled by the fact that the Secretary did not state that NBA Port Harcourt Branch is not a member of the EBF.”
In another breath, “Who authorized the Secretary to issue such unfortunate notice? Is she the spokesperson of the Branch? Is she the Chairman? Did the Branch in a meeting authorize her to issue such statement? When has it become the practise for a branch to meet and resolve before the Chairmen can represent the Branch in an EBF, NBA or another other NBA meeting or activity?”
“It is obvious that she did the publication to satisfy where are interest lies and she cannot speak for NBA Port Harcourt Branch.”
“Gentlemen EBF has done its adoption and Port Harcourt Branch participated actively by hosting the meeting and voted in the adoption process through it’s incumbent and indefatigable Chairman.”
“The branch has spoken and on EBF we stand.”
Please you are all urged to disregard the purported publication as it did not emanate from NBA Port Harcourt.
