Alex Muoka’s Record of Service as Secretary and Chairman of NBA, Lagos Branch – By Friends of Alex Muoka
■ He pioneered branch-wide regular email communication with members of the Branch in 2011.
■ He improved the quality and format of minutes of meetings.
■ He ensured that NBA NEC meeting reports were comprehensively written and circulated promptly to members of the Branch.
■ His style of writing the minutes of meetings, and regular communication with members through email endeared him to many members of the Branch and this engendered wider participation of members in Branch’s activities.
■ In 2013 he made history as the first person to transit from Secretary to Chairman of NBA Lagos Branch without a break.
■ He entrenched effective and sustainable corporate governance processes in the Branch. He pioneered, inter alia, the cashless policy in NBA Lagos Branch in 2013, and he also ensured settlement of all inherited branch debts
■ He pioneered the NBA Lagos Branch ‘Elder’s Night’ which has become part of the annual Law Week programme of the Branch till date;
■ He entrenched knowledge sharing at the Monthly General Meetings of the NBA Lagos Branch (particularly on Professional Ethics).
■ He strengthened the Branch Group Life Insurance Scheme .
■ He has great writing and communication skills and deployed these qualities for the good of the Branch, both as Secretary and Chairman, to the admiration of members of NBA, Lagos Branch.
■ As Chairman, Alex Muoka led Executive of NBA Lagos Branch grew the NBA Lagos Branch Building Fund from N12 Million Naira to N46 Million Naira by prudent handling of branch revenues.
