Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has urged residents of the state to stop harbouring criminals  or supporting their activities, warning that he would not hesitate to order the demolition of any house found harbouring criminal elements in the state

Governor Eno gave the warning at the Government House Monthly Prayer Service held at the Latter House Chapel on Saturday

Eno, while emphasising the need to preserve the prevailing peace and security, noted that the State is reputed for peace, adding that any attempt by any group or individuals to undermine it would be dealt with accordingly.

The state government holds monthly covenant service and other prayer meetings to seek God’s intervention for the state and its leaders. The events feature prayers, worship and sermons with themes related to faith, prosperity and governance

He said, “Please, let our people be aware of this. If you are using your house to keep criminals, if we catch you, we will demolish that house.”

The Governor listed areas in the State that require immediate attention, including the flood-prone Aka Itiam Street, adding that the rainy season has hindered construction progress, particularly on the roads, but assured that work will pick up pace with the onset of the dry season.

He emphasised that Akwa Ibom is now a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress, pledging the state’s commitment to supporting the party’s candidates in upcoming elections.

The Governor urged everyone to continue to support the government in its quest to deliver on the ARISE Agenda, while appreciating everyone who attended the monthly prayer service, stressing that the State is sustained by prayers.

He appointed and inaugurated Rev. Dr. (Mrs.) Enobong Ibok of Eyak Ibong Akam Outreach Ministry, as leader of the Government House Prayer Team, urged that the team should be populated by dedicated Christians willing to commit their time and energy to intercede for the State and its leaders.

In her homily, Rev. Dr. (Mrs.) Ibok, who ministered on the theme “The God Who Sees Me,” drawn from the scriptures, admonished Christians to shun betrayal and remain faithful, reminding them that God sees every deed and rewards each person according to their works.

PUNCH Online reports that the Akwa Ibom State Police Command on November 11 arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered dangerous weapons at various locations across the state.
