65 Persons Charged to Court in Connection with Kasuwar Magani Killings in Kaduna
Sixty-Five persons have been charged to court in connection with the last week’s mayhem in Kasuwar Magani in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna State.
It will be recalled that violence broke out between the Muslims and Christians youths over a Christian girl that converted to Islam.
The mayhem resulted in the destruction of over 1,000 shops and houses, while 12 people were reported to have been killed.
Addressing a press conference in Kaduna on Tuesday, the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Mr. Chris Umar said 65 were arrested as a result of the Kasuwar magani crisis.
According to him, after the completion of the initial investigation, the culprits were charged before the Chief Magistrate Court 6 Daura road, Kaduna.
He said those arrested were charged with offences of criminal conspiracy, rioting with armed and offensive weapons, culpable homicide punishable with death, unlawful assembly and inciting contrary to section 59, 67190 and 78 of the penal code of Kaduna state law 2017.
